CAT 2023 slot 2 was in lines with the pattern of Slot 1. However, there was one mandatory question in the VA/RC section. The paper consisted of 66 questions which were to be attempted in 120 minutes. The sections, which were in a predetermined order, were to be attempted in 40 minutes each and there was no provision of submission of section before time. The division of the questions also remained the same.
CAT 2023 slot 2 was difficult in comparison of Slot 1. The section-wise level of difficulty was as follows:
- VARC was more or less like last year and as CAT 2023 Slot 1
- DILR maintained the difficulty was the same as last year and as CAT 2023 Slot 1
- QA was difficult as compared to last year and CAT 2023 Slot 1

Marking Scheme was as follows:
- +3 marks for every right answer
- -1 mark for every wrong answer in MCQs
- TITA had no negative marking
VA/RC Section Analysis
- The VA/RC section was more or less like last year and as CAT 2023 Slot 1. However, there was a mandatory question.There were 24 Questions out of which 4 were TITA. Passages were of around 450 words. Odd Sentence elimination and Paragraph Completion questions were included this year.
- There were 4 passages which comprised of 16 Questions. Passage on Facts & Interpretation in History was easy as was passage on Fashion Industry & Pollution.
- Passage on Liberalism was difficult to read whereas passage on Netflix dubbing was moderate.
- Questions on Sentence Rearrangement were easy whereas questions on Odd Sentence Elimination were difficult. Questions on Paragraph Completion and Paragraph Summary were moderate.
- An overall score of around 39-41 would be enough for a 99 percentile whereas a score of 29-32 would fetch around 95 percentile.
DI/LR Section Analysis
- The DI/LR section was of the same level of difficulty as the last year and similar to CAT 2023 Slot 1. There were 4 sets with 5 Questions per set. There were 6 TITA questions in this section.
- There was one set on Missing Values table and was easy in nature.
- There was one set on arrangement scores and was moderate in nature as was the set on Rides and Timing. There was a Grid based set which was difficult in nature.
- An overall score of around 24-26 would be enough for a 99 percentile whereas a score of 17-19 would fetch around 95 percentile.
QA Section Analysis
- QA section of CAT 2023 Slot 2 was difficult in nature compared to CAT 2022 and a shade tougher than CAT 2023 Slot 1.Questions on Arithmetic were easy to moderate. There were around 9 Questions from Arithmetic and 7 from Algebra comprising of questions from TSD, T&W, SI CI, Ratio, Log, Maxima & Minima, Sequence & Series, Inequalities. There were no questions from Modern Maths. There were 3 questions from Geometry & Mensuration which were moderate in nature.
- An overall score of around 27-29 would be enough for a 99 percentile whereas a score of 20-22 would fetch around 95 percentile.
- An overall composite score of around 79-81would be enough for a 99 percentile whereas an overall composite score of 55-57 would fetch around 95 percentile.
